AFGHANISTAN – Members of the Florida Army National Guard’s 930th Digital Liaison Detachment (DLD) recently helped rebuild the roof of a local mosque during their deployment to Afghanistan.

Supervised by 1st Sgt. Robert Jackson, members of the unit – assisted by a nearby security detachment – broke from their normal routine duties in Afghanistan to rebuild the leaking roof of nearby mosque. This mosque also serves as a living quarters for the local Afghans.

During the active rainy season in the area, living conditions inside the mosque became unbearable; when it was brought to the attention of 930th Commander Col. Abe Conn, he immediately sought materials and expertise to remedy their living conditions.

Twenty-five members of the Homestead-based 930th DLD deployed in November to eastern Afghanistan where they are performing liaison duty between U.S. and coalition forces along the Pakistani border.
