Vision - The Naval Inspector General is the Senior
Advisor to the Secretary of the Navy on investigations, acting as the "eyes
and ears" of the Navy through various means to include the Navy Hotline
Program.
Mission - The Naval Inspector General, Hotline and
Investigations Division is the designated Defense Hotline Program
coordinator, accountable for executing the responsibilities of the Defense
Hotline Program within the Department of the Navy (DoN) by strengthening and
focusing efforts to combat fraud, waste, and mismanagement. Acting as an
alternative to the chain of command, the DoN Hotline Program works to
promote public trust in the DoN by providing an unbiased, impartial approach
to address issues and ensure proper evaluation, investigation and
accountability.
