Faculties of Education with Afghan universities provide pre-service and in-service training to secondary school teachers.  Currently most are operating in inappropriate learning spaces far from university campuses where they belong.  This USAID project is constructing new Faculties of Education at the request of the Ministry of Higher Education.  Faculties in Bamyan and Parwan provinces are near completion while those in Jawzjan, Balkh, Faryab, and Hirat provinces are currently underway.  Construction of facilities in Badakhshan, Baghlan, Kabul (two locations), Kandahar, Khost, Kunduz, Nangarhar, Paktya, and Takhar provinces have not yet been awarded.
