Do you think strategic sourcing is a sensible procurement solution for federal agencies?

Strategic sourcing helps reduce costs for federal agencies through consolidated buying power and improves efficiency by streamlining product and service offerings. Would your agency be more likely to purchase off a GSA strategic sourcing contract if surcharges were lowered?

During recent congressional testimony, GSA Administrator Dan Tangherlini announced that GSA is investigating the possibility of the agency lowering some of its surcharges on its various contracts in an effort to make its product and service offerings more attractive to agencies. This would include changes to all of its current and future FSSI agreements, including Print Management.

GSA begins agency-wide assessment of its entire printer and copier inventory

To ensure that the agency continues to set the pace in the areas of efficiency and accountability, GSA plans to examine and change the way it manages its printing in order to reduce its related annual spending. Before GSA can begin the process of reducing these costs, the agency must gain a better understanding of what it currently spends on printing and its related commodities and equipment.

Recent talks between GSA and leaders from private industry will provide better print management offerings for the federal government

This August, contracting officials from the GSA Print Management Program Office and members of the federal print management strategic souring commodity team met with leaders from the private sector to review the upcoming additions to GSA’s print management products and services line. Twenty large and small print commodity businesses attended this day-long discussion to ask questions and provide input about a draft statement of work.
