FCHS Student Athlete Eligibility

Updated May 10, 2012

Fort Campbell High School is rich in tradition with over 30 State Championships earned throughout it’s history, most recently back to back boys Track Titles in 2009 and 2010, and 3 consecutive football state titles from 2007-2009. We value sportsmanship and our athletic staff uphold ethical and moral standards and demand the same from our student-athletes.

Fort Campbell High School is a member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) and follows all rules and policies accordingly.

Eligibility rules are set by the KHSAA and FCHS. The following is a summary of the rules:

  • A student must meet academic and citizenship standards on a Friday in order to be eligible to participate in athletics during the next seven days.
  • A student shall be ineligible in high school if he/she becomes 19 years of age on or before August 1.
  • Athletes must live at home with their parents or legal guardians.

In addition to KHSAA eligibility, FCHS athletic policy includes:

  • A student’s academic performance and effort must be commensurate with the student’s ability in addition to following all school policies and KHSAA regulations.
  • Academic:
  • Initial eligibility at the beginning of the school year:
  • Freshmen must have been promoted from 8th grade;
  • Sophomores must have 6 credits;
  • Juniors must have 12 credits;
  • Seniors must have 19 credits.
  • During the sport season, all students must maintain a current year GPA of 2.0 with no more than two ‘F’ on a weekly basis to maintain eligibility for athletics or student council activities.
  • Attendance (DoDEA Attendance Policy):
    • Students are required to be in school the full day on the day of a weekday game, pursuant to Reference (c). The only exception is for an appointment approved by the school administration in advance.
    • A student cannot be absent from school and attend practice except for an excused absence approved by the administration in advance.
    • A student who is "unexcused absent" on the day of a scheduled athletic program is ineligible for participation in that event.
    • A student suspended from school is not eligible, at the minimum, for the next scheduled competition.
  • Physical examination and parental consent: It is required that no student be permitted to participate in practice sessions or in athletic contests until there is on file a physical examination signed by a licensed and practicing physician and a Parental Consent Certificate signed by a parent or legal guardian. Any student who has participated in a varsity contest at another school is required to show a transfer form completed by the sending school.
  • All FCHS athletes must exhibit proper attitude and citizenship at all times. Misconduct in school will result in the student losing eligibility to participate in sports at FCHS.
  • If an athlete is suspended, he or she is ineligible for any practices that day, and ineligible for the very next game that follows the suspension. Repeated suspensions will result in the student being removed from all athletics.
  • If a student-athlete is cut from one sport prior to the beginning of a season, he/she may try out for another sport during the same season. A student will not be allowed to drop a sport in season to try out for an upcoming sport if he/she is a member of the sport squad at the time of the first game. He/she will be declared ineligible to participate in another sport until completion of the season in progress.
  • All questions should be addressed to the Athletic Director.
