117th Air Refueling Wing

The 117th Air Refueling Wing's KC-135 Stratotanker mission is to provide the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard. This unique aircraft enhances the Air Force's capability to accomplish its primary missions of Global Reach and Global Power. It also provides aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft. The KC-135 is also capable of transporting litter and ambulatory patients using patient support pallets during aeromedical evacuations.

<p>Before that C-130 rolls down the strip, the Air Transportation Specialist makes sure it's packed tight with everything the troops will need to complete missions. From food, water and medical supplies to Humvees and helicopters, you'll be responsible for securely packing cargo so that it can be loaded and transported safely and quickly. You'll even be responsible for checking in passengers and baggage when the cargo is actually military personnel. Once that plane takes off, there's no turning back if something's forgotten, which is why the Air Transportation Specialist ensures absolutely everything is loaded and ready to go.</p><p>Air Transportation Specialists are specially trained in:</p><ul><li>Passenger and cargo movement functions to include transport aircraft types, capabilities, and configuration</li><li>Weight and balance factors</li><li>Airlift transportation directives and documentation</li><li>Cargo restraint techniques; border clearance requirements</li><li>Operation of materials handling and other types of loading equipment or devices, fleet service functions</li><li>Automated data processing equipment and its application in airlift activities</li><li>Passenger service functions, and customer relations principles</li><li>Aerial delivery techniques and equipment use</li></ul> Air Transportation

<p>The safety and security of the people, property and resources of the Air National Guard is the sole mission of Security Forces. A career as a Security Forces Specialist requires extensive training in law enforcement and combat tactics since you'll work both stateside on bases and overseas where you'll often patrol off base. In this role, you'll ensure the safety of all base weapons, property and personnel from hostile forces, conduct investigations into any on-base incidents, apprehend and detain suspects, secure crime scenes and testify in judicial proceedings. You will also be involved in team patrol movements, tactical drills, battle procedures and military operations other than war. <p>Generator sets, air conditioners, hydraulic test stands, air compressors, bomb lifts, heaters this is just some of the equipment that stays put on the ground when an F-22 or A-10 is in the air on a mission. The Air National Guard requires a lot of Aerospace Ground Equipment to keep its aircraft in peak condition, and it's the job of the Aerospace Ground Equipment Specialist to make sure those tools are in always in tip-top shape.
