136th Airlift Wing

The 136th Airlift Wing's C-130 Hercules mission is to perform the tactical portion of the airlift mission. The aircraft is capable of operating from rough, dirt strips and is the prime transport for air dropping troops and equipment into hostile areas. The C-130 performs a diverse number of roles, including airlift support, Antarctic ice resupply, aeromedical missions, weather reconnaissance, aerial spray missions, firefighting duties for the U.S. Forest Service, and natural disaster relief missions.

<p>Humvees and tanks, diplomatic dignitaries, field supplies or troops you'll encounter them all as an Aircraft Loadmaster.  It's your job to get your aircraft loaded whether it's cargo or passengers deliver it safely to its destination, and get it unpacked. <p>Did you know that you could start a flourishing career in music in the Air National GuardTalented musicians perform in a variety of musical groups in the Air Guard, including symphonic concert band, marching band, and jazz, rock, country, and reception combos. You'll perform at events like military ceremonies as well as concerts in schools, public parades and concerts in support of Air Guard community relations. You'll need to audition and demonstrate skills like sight reading music and playing from memory in order to join an Air Guard band. <p>When your primary mission is in the clouds more than on land, the weather plays a huge part in mission success. It's the Weather Officer's job to keep a constant watch over one of the greatest threats to the safety of Air Guard pilots and aircrew. In this job, you'll analyze weather conditions, prepare forecasts, issue weather warnings and brief weather information to pilots. You'll learn to read and interpret weather satellite imagery, climatology reports, computerized weather prediction models and Doppler weather radar imagery. You'll also operate a weather radar console and a high-frequency pilot-to-metro radio, as well as analyze and forecast weather elements such as clouds, visibility, winds, atmospheric pressure and many other parameters.</p> Weather Officer
