DESCRIPTION

DISA's Enterprise Services provides world-class processing capability, systems management, communications and storage in support of Department of Defense services, agencies, and combatant commands. Located in 13 secure facilities strategically located throughout the world; Enterprise Services support more than three million users of more than 2,800 applications utilizing more than 3.7 petabytes of storage. Enterprise Services has become DoD's number one provider of personnel, payroll, logistics, accounting, and medical records processing.

ESD's operational elements are:

Business Service Management (ES1) provides all budgetary, financial, and logistical support to management as well as developing the pricing strategies for the customers of the IBM, Unisys, UNIX, Windows, storage, and special services workloads that ESD supports. ES1 ensures budgets are executed properly, contracts are in place for equipment maintenance, and costs are in line with revenues and reports the results to management and CFE.

Customer Relationship Management (ES2) provides cradle to grave management of all customer workload support, to include requirements definition, engineering, proposal development, acquisition, implementation, service level agreements, and review billing and invoicing. ES2 performs the entire gamut of customer relations functions for Enterprise Services, in the areas of ensuring that customer solutions are compatible with enterprise strategy and opens lines of communication with the customer to provide rapid response to customer questions or service requests.

Operations (ES3) provides overall management, operations, and maintenance of all assigned DISA information processing systems. ES3 ensures responsive, reliable, and cost-effective processing services for all DISA customers. ES3 controls and directs all ESD operations and overall performance and effectiveness of the Defense Information Infrastructure (DII) supporting Defense Enterprise Computing Centers (DECC) operations.

Chief Information Officer (CIO)/Chief of Staff (COS) ES4 provides the focal point for governance over the operation of DISA Enterprise Services Directorate and the Defense Enterprise Computing Centers. The CIO role emphasizes security and continuity of Enterprise Services as well as compliance with legislation and regulations in areas of Privacy Act, Records Management, investments and information security. The CIO also provides direct guidance for continuous business process improvement, standards, service delivery and maintains an effective knowledge management framework. As the COS, ES4 supports the Enterprise Services Director for dissemination, enactment, and monitoring of policies and decisions. The COS also represents ESD on major issues within DISA or in support of the JS, OSD, and other DoD Components.

Service Design and Transition (ES5) plans lifecycle management and status reports for major facilities and communications infrastructure initiatives. ES5 continually assesses the effectiveness of existing infrastructure solutions to meet operational requirements and manages efforts to streamline or replace existing infrastructure solutions with better or more cost-effective technology.

Technical Program Office oversees the development and implementation of Enterprise Service's strategy, to include planning, engineering, technical architecture, service level management, enterprise systems management and project management.
