The competitors in EPA’s 2012 ENERGY STAR National Building Competition have stepped on the scale for the midpoint weigh-in to find out who is on the way to becoming the biggest energy loser. Leading the pack with a whopping 47% reduction is Demarest Elementary School of Bloomfield, NJ! In the first six months of the competition alone, teams representing more than 3,200 buildings around the country have saved more than $37 million on utility bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equal to the electricity used by more than 16,000 homes annually.
