Student Email Migration

Student Email Migration

Why is Walsh changing the student email system?

  • Size – Mailbox storage limits will increase from 25 MB to 10 GB.
  • The opportunity for students to become familiar with a Microsoft Office 365.  More companies are likely to adopt this platform in the coming years.
  • Receive e-mail on their smart phones through active sync or access e-mail through IMAP / POP3

What email system is Walsh moving to?

  • Microsoft Office365

How will I access my new student email account?

  • The same way that you do today, the student home page of the Walsh Portal.

Will I still have access to my message history (sent and received)?

  • Yes.  All of your old email messages have been migrated into the new email system.

When will the migration to the new student email system happen?

  • The migration began on Friday, November 9 at 8:00 a.m. and was completed on Sunday, November 11 at 11:00 p.m.

Will I need to do anything during the migration?

  • No.  All your old email messages will be migrated automatically to the NEW email system.

Is the new system difficult to use?

  • The web interface of Microsoft Office 365 is very similar to other web based email system (Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) that you are likely already familiar with using.

If I had configured email forwarding, will the configuration be setup in the new system?

  • Yes

What do I do if I have any problems or questions related to this email migration?

  • Contact the help desk at 248-823-1350.
