126th Air Refueling Wing

The 126th Air Refueling Wing is a highly decorated wing with an outstanding track record and exceptional senior leadership. Being co-located with the Air Force on Scott AFB gives this unit all of the benefits of an active duty unit while remaining in the Air National Guard. The 126th Air Refueling Wing's KC-135 Stratotanker mission is to provide the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force and the Air Guard. This unique aircraft enhances the Air Force's capability to accomplish its primary missions of Global Reach and Global Power. The KC-135 is capable of transporting litter and ambulatory patients using patient support pallets during aeromedical evacuations.

<p>In your role as a Fire Protection Specialist in the Air National Guard, you could be fighting a forest fire in northern California or battling a hazardous material fire on an Air Force base overseas, or even controlling burning rocket fuel while in flight. Your mission will be to prevent the loss of life and property from fire. During technical school training, you will be taught, and subsequently receive, Red Cross certification in standard first aid and CPR. You will also learn the principles and operations of fighting fires in buildings, aircraft, hazardous materials, and wild land (forests, prairies, etc.). <p>The safety and security of the people, property and resources of the Air National Guard is the sole mission of Security Forces. A career as a Security Forces Specialist requires extensive training in law enforcement and combat tactics since you'll work both stateside on bases and overseas where you'll often patrol off base. In this role, you'll ensure the safety of all base weapons, property and personnel from hostile forces, conduct investigations into any on-base incidents, apprehend and detain suspects, secure crime scenes and testify in judicial proceedings. You will also be involved in team patrol movements, tactical drills, battle procedures and military operations other than war. <p>As a Pavement and Construction Equipment Specialist you'll maintain and operate heavy construction equipment to support the mission by constructing and maintaining concrete and asphalt runways, aircraft parking aprons, and roads.  The special projects you work on could be anything from building an entire air base, to constructing emergency disaster relief facilities, to erecting high-tech security fences. <p>They may seem harmless, but insects, rodents, and birds can carry infectious diseases that could significantly debilitate an Air National Guard unit.  They can also wreak havoc in the systems that keep an Air Guard facility functioning at optimal performance levels. That's why the Pest Management Specialist is an important member of the Air Guard team.  As a Pest Management Specialist, you'll identify insects, spiders, ticks, mites, rodents, reptiles, predatory animals, birds, bats and weeds; select and apply integrated pest management techniques to control or manage pest populations; and use a variety of devices to repel birds from buildings, airfields and other areas, to ensure safe takeoffs and landings.</p><p>Pest Management Specialists are specially trained in:</p><ul><li>Biological principles relating to plant and animal classification and control</li><li>Planning, coordinating integrated pest management activities</li><li>Pesticide storage and application</li><li>Pest surveys</li><li>Operation and maintenance of pesticide equipment</li><li>Must have normal color vision</li><li>Freedom from entomophobia (fear of insects, spiders, etc.), </li><li>Freedom from ophiciophobia (fear of snakes)</li><li>Freedom from zoophobia (fear of animals)</li><li>Freedom from claustrophobia (fear of confined spaces)</li><li>No hypersensitivity to chemicals or arthropod (insect, spider, scorpion, etc.) and snake venoms</li><li>Freedom from fear of heights (acrophobia)</li></ul> Pest Management
