Flood Frequency Analyses

This section of the MARFC website is devoted to flood frequency analysis information for the MARFC forecasting area. It contains information on how many times floods have happened in a specific month, percentages of flood occurrence for each month, probability, and average height above flood stage.

The main function of this project is to give the user historical flood statistics for all of The Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center (MARFC) forecast points. MARFC has received numerous requests from our customers in regards to historical flood information. This project answers these requests for the much needed information.

Flood information is available in an Access database. Please email us if you are interested in receiving a copy.

What's New - 3/5/2013

USGS has updated some the latest monthly and daily streamflow information. We have added it to our tables and have uploaded it to our streamflow sections.

We have finished correcting our database by comparing it to the USGS. All of the data has been updated.

We have added rankings for the year, months and all floods. The information ranks events, minor, moderate, major, total points and power numbers. The table headers are now sortable except the "All Rank" in "Event Rankings".

We have completed the code section and code glossary that gives some information about the crests. .

The event summaries table that lists every flood event is now linked to the specific flood. The top 20 floods are also linked to the particular year.

The low water tables have been updated with more 2012 and 2013 information.

The ranking of the total number of floods with each flood in the flood summary section has been updated. We have combined some events and have added or deleted some floods.
