Providing A Destination Address
 

U.S. Customs and Border Protections (CBP) is required to collect the following information from persons entering the U.S.:

  1. Full Name
  2. Gender
  3. Date of Birth
  4. Citizenship
  5. Passport Number
  6. Passport country of issuance
  7. Passport expiration date
  8. Country of residence
  9. Your address while in the U.S.

Below is detailed information relating to the last item, the address of your destination.

Note: Address information is not required of U.S. citizens and legal U.S. Permanent Residents (who must provide their alien registration number).

The information below provides some clarification as to what address information the traveler should provide in various circumstances.

Visiting the U.S. and Passenger has Known Address

Provide the address of your immediate destination (where you will spend the first night in the U.S.)

Example:
Street Address: 1300 Pennsylvania Ave.
City: Washington
State: D.C.
ZIP Code: 20229

Hotel

For those passengers who are destined to a hotel and do not know the street address for the hotel, CBP will accept, Hotel name (if known), City (of first night stay), State. ZIP Code should be provided if known.

Example:
Street Address: Downtown Hotel Hilton (be as specific as possible)
City: Houston
State: Texas
ZIP Code: 99999

Rental Car Pickup

CBP will accept if the first night stay is NOT known, the general itinerary of the traveler. If for example the traveler will be touring, the general itinerary city, state and zip code (if known).

Example:
Street address: Touring the Grand Canyon
City: Grand Canyon
State: AZ
ZIP Code: 99999

Transferring to Flight Outside U.S.

If your onward flight leaves within 8 hours of your arrival, you will be required to provide your final destination and your flight number.

Transit to Cruise Ship

CBP will accept, "Transit to Cruise Line and Vessel/Cruise Name" in the place of a street address. Enter the name of the city where the cruise will depart in the City field.

Example:
Street Address: Transit to MV Princess of the Seas
City: Miami
State: FL
ZIP Code: 99999
