RSL Looking to Light Up Oil and Gas Market

RSL Fiber Systems, LLC has brought light to a variety of sectors with dangerous and sometimes hard to reach lighting needs such as the military and mining fields. Having succeeded in those areas, the company has turned its sights on oil and gas.

The Connecticut-based company designs and manufactures advanced fiber optic remote source lighting (RSL) technology. The systems are safe for use in volatile situations and easy to use when sources of electricity are not readily available. In its successful 11-year history the company has provided its technology for use by the U.S. Military and various coal mines across the U.S.

With offices across the U.S. and in Australia and Italy, RSL is looking to gain a foothold with petrochemical companies to provide lighting sources to them as well.

Peter Gladis, Director of Marketing said RSL's systems are perfect for companies working in oil and gas because they do not produce heat or sparks and therefore will not pose a threat of fire or explosion. They are also very long lasting, meaning that they don't need to be replaced.

"It never burns out," said Gladis. "It is reflecting light coming down out of a fiber optic cable."

The systems can ensure projects will have a safe source of light and reduce maintenance costs.

While RSL hopes to expand into the Canadian mining and military industries as well, it now has high hopes for the oil and gas industry. Gladis said he was very impressed with the Global Petroleum Show and that he made a number of key contacts he believes can help the company.

RSL Fiber Systems, LLC was one of 75 U.S. companies in the U.S. pavilion and one of more than 300 U.S. companies in total at this year's Global Petroleum Show in Calgary.
