HOUSE MANUFACTURING CAUCUS CO-CHAIRS TOM REED (NY-23) AND TIM RYAN (OH-13) HOLD 113TH CONGRESS’ FIRST CAUCUS EVENT

 Congressmen Tom Reed and Tim Ryan, Co-Chairs of the bipartisan House Manufacturing Caucus, held the Caucus’ first event of the 113th Congress Tuesday, a “Manufacturing 101” kick-off event that included presentations from representatives of the National Association of Manufacturers, Cummins Inc. in Jamestown, New York, and the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute in Youngstown, Ohio. The Manufacturing Caucus will hold monthly events and briefings to educate House Members on manufacturing issues and the promotion of manufacturing in the United States.

“Tuesday’s event was a great way to kick off the Manufacturing Caucus and get Members of Congress engaged in the Manufacturing industry and identify ways to maximize the industry’s growth,” said Congressman Tom Reed. “Part of our job as members of the Caucus and co-chairs will be to facilitate communication between Congress and manufacturers of all sizes across the United States to focus on bringing manufacturing jobs back to the United States. Together with frontline manufacturers, like Cummins Inc. of Jamestown, we will identify what steps we need to take to help our nation’s job creators. In addition, the House Manufacturing Caucus is shining a light on Youngstown and the Tech Belt as the center of research for additive manufacturing. This is a revolution in manufacturing that will take center stage across the nation as newly created industries and newly created jobs help restore the prosperity we once knew.”

Congressman Reed welcomed a representative of Cummins Inc. in Jamestown to participate on the panel. Emily Foster, Director of Government Relations of Cummins Inc., shared Cummins’ experiences in the current economic climate, stressing how the uncertainty of the national debt is impacting the company’s ability to make future economic projections.

Cummins Inc. employs more than 17,000 individuals in the United States and 1,400 in Chautauqua County’s Jamestown facility.
