145th Airlift Wing

The main unit in the North Carolina Air National Guard is the 145th Airlift Wing, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 145th’s mission is tactical airlift, and it currently has ten C-130 H3 aircraft, which are used for anything from hauling SOF teams, evacuating nursing homes during hurricane season, dropping bales of hay to land-locked animals after floods, and putting out wildfires across the nation. Some of the skills at this unit include Aviation, Aircraft Maintenance, Communication, Logistics, Health Professions, Information Technology, Weather Forecasting and Aeromedical Evacuation. With more than 1200 members, this is the largest unit in the state.

<p>As a Mobility Pilot, you'll master all aspects of advanced aviation and use those skills to fly C-130 Hercules aircraft, transporting everything from cargo to passengers to destinations all over the world. In this role, you'll perform navigation, in-flight refueling, and cargo and passenger delivery. You'll plan and prepare for missions; review mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information; and brief your crew. You'll ensure your aircraft is preflighted, inspected, loaded, equipped, and manned for mission. <p>Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Specialists are the most skilled and courageous Airmen in the entire Air National Guard. They are Ranger and Airborne qualified, proficient in air assault, scuba operation, and various parachute tactics, and maintain the highest physical and mental standards. You'll find TACP Specialists imbedded on the front lines of war among Army and Marine Special Force units to provide U.S. and allied forces with tactical air support for ground attack fighters. As a TACP Specialist, you and your team engages enemy forces utilizing advanced technologies and weapon systems to direct air strikes in close proximity of friendly forces. <p>There's nothing worse than being hit with a sudden emergency and not having the tools you need to respond. The Materials Management Specialist is in charge of obtaining all the supplies and equipment an Air Guard unit could possibly need for any conceivable mission and getting them into the right hands. <p>The safety and security of the people, property and resources of the Air National Guard is the sole mission of Security Forces. A career as a Security Forces Specialist requires extensive training in law enforcement and combat tactics since you'll work both stateside on bases and overseas where you'll often patrol off base. In this role, you'll ensure the safety of all base weapons, property and personnel from hostile forces, conduct investigations into any on-base incidents, apprehend and detain suspects, secure crime scenes and testify in judicial proceedings. You will also be involved in team patrol movements, tactical drills, battle procedures and military operations other than war.
