127th Wing

The 127th Wing is a fighter and air refueling unit located at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan. Our mission is to provide trained, equipped and motivated air refueling, fighter and support resources for the community, state and nation. The 127th Wing serves as host unit at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, a military airfield dating back to 1917. Currently, Selfridge ANG Base is home to more than 20 tenant units from all branches of the military, the Coast Guard and Border Patrol.

<p>As a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist, you are ultimately responsible for the safety of the pilot and crew that fly the aircraft under your care. It's your job to make sure the plane meets the highest standards and passes the most thorough review before taking off. In this career, you'll maintain tactical aircraft and support equipment. <p>How would you like to be the first to test the latest prototype weapons system in the militaryYou might get a chance to do just that in a career in Aircraft Armament Systems. As an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist, you'll operationally check and electrically test aircraft weapons release and gun systems, drive bomb lift trucks, and control many different types of test equipment and gauges, doing repairs as needed. Not only will you be handling the most advanced weapons technology in the world, but you could be doing it anywhere around the globe on one of the many bases the Air National Guard helps maintain.</p><p>Aircraft Armament Systems Specialists are specially trained in:</p><ul><li>Electricity</li><li>Principles of physics, mechanics, electronics, and ballistics applying to munitions launch, release, suspension, fusing, and arming systems, and aircraft gun systems</li><li>Use of precision measuring tools and equipment</li><li>Interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams</li><li>Concepts and application of maintenance directives</li><li>Nuclear and nonnuclear munitions loading and safety procedures</li><li>Proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials</li><li>Must maintain a Secret security clearance</li><li>Normal color vision and depth perception</li><li>No record of emotional instability</li></ul> Aircraft Armament Systems

<p>Experience an exciting career in the Air National Guard as a Munitions Systems Specialist. Handling high-explosive incendiary rounds, nuclear weapons and a vast array of bombs is all in a day's work for these well-trained professionals. As a Munitions System Specialist, you'll work with weapons systems of every kind on a variety of aircraft. You'll learn to identify munitions by filler, color code, marking, or physical characteristics, demilitarize nonhazardous munitions, and operate munitions materiel handling equipment.
