Command Sergeant Major Miguel A. Rivera

CSM Miguel A. Rivera

Command Sergeant Major Miguel A. Rivera is a native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He entered the Army on 31 October 1981. He completed basic training at Ft Leonardwood, Missouri and Advance Individual Training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina.

CSM Rivera has served in a variety of leadership positions. His recent assignments includes Command Sergeant Major, 1st Sustainment Brigade, Fort Riley Kansas; Command Sergeant Major, 168th Brigade Support Battalion, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Command Sergeant Major, 19th Maintenance Battalion, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Operations Sergeant Major, HQs 501st Corps Support Group, Camp Red Cloud, South Korea; Chief Support Operations, Defense Distribution Center, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania; First Sergeant, A Forward Support Company, 528th Special Operations Support Battalion, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Assistant Inspector General, United States Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Detachment Sergeant, Group Support Company, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Group S-4 NCOIC, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; and Battalion S-4 NCOIC, 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

While stationed in Germany with 54th Combat Engineer Battalion, CSM Rivera deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He also has served in operational deployments to Haiti in support of Operation Uphold Democracy with 3rd Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, NC and to Bosnia in support of Stabilization Forces 10, Task Force Eagle while assigned to the Defense Distribution Center, Defense Logistics Agency, New Cumberland, PA. He also deployed as Battalion CSM to OIF 07-09, with the 168th Brigade Support Battalion, Fort Sill, OK. His most recent deployment was to OIF 10-11 and OND as Brigade CSM with the 1st Sustainment Brigade, Fort Riley, KS.

CSM Rivera�s military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advance Noncommissioned Officer Course, Physical Security Course, Defense Distribution Management Course, First Sergeant Course, Inspector General Course, Battle Staff Noncommissioned Officer Course, Air Assault School, Pathfinder School, Airborne School and Jumpmaster Course. He is a graduate of Class 53, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. CSM Rivera�s civilian education includes an Associate Degree in Science from the University of Puerto Rico and a BSBA with TUI University.

CSM Rivera�s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star medal (2nd award), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd award), Army Commendation Medal (6th award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (4th award), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (10th award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, South West Asia Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (numeral 3), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait), NATO Medal, and the Driver, Air Assault, Pathfinder, Master Parachutist, German Army Marksmanship (Gold) and Australian Parachutist Badges.
