Non-Emergency Services

American Citizen Services inquiry hours are Monday through Thursday, 09:00 – 12:00. 

Passport services, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad or notarial services are available by appointment.  Please click here to schedule a time: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=YDE&appcode=1.  Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time. 

After hours, a duty officer is available for emergencies only. The emergency numbers are (237) 2222-25-89 and (237) 2220-15-00.

Reports of Birth - Provided in Yaoundé

A child born in Cameroon to a U.S. citizen parent may be entitled to U.S. citizenship. The parent or legal guardian should file the "Application for Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America" (Form DS-2029) as soon as possible with the Consular Section.  Applications for first-time passports are usually completed at the same time. 

Notarial Services

U.S. consular officials may notarize documents that are to be used for legal purposes in the United States or at the request of a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. The individual who needs to sign the document must schedule an appointment and appear in person at the consular office, present proper identification (a valid passport or, other official photo ID) and pay the appropriate fee. If witnesses are required, you must bring your own. Do not sign the document until requested to do so by the consular officer. There is a $50 fee for this service.  Fees must be paid in cash (US dollars or francs CFA) or by credit card for United States citizens.

Federal Benefits - Provided in Yaounde

The Consular Section helps to process individual benefits claims and to resolve problems, investigate claims on behalf of the agency concerned, and perform other tasks as requested by the agencies and the Treasury Department or needed by the beneficiaries.

Estates - Provided in Yaounde

The Consular Section takes the responsibility for safeguarding the personal estates of U.S. citizens who die abroad if the deceased has no legal representative in Cameroon.

Property Claims -Provided in Yaounde

The Consular Section assists claimants by giving general information and providing a list of local attorneys in Cameroon.

Selective Service Registrations  - Provided in Yaounde

The Section gives information on registration procedures and registers individuals. For more information visit the Selective Service Registration website.

Voting - Provided in Yaounde

The Consular Section provides voting information and assistance in completing the Federal Post Card Application, which may be used to register to vote and to request absentee ballots. The Section also provides Federal Write-In Absentee Ballots to persons who have applied for state ballots but do not receive them in time to be returned and counted. Lost or Stolen Legal Permanent Resident Cards - Provided in Yaounde

United States permanent residents who have been out of the U.S. for less than a year and who experience the loss or theft of their Legal Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) while traveling in Cameroon may require assistance in obtaining proper documentation to return to the U.S.  The Consular Section can facilitate this process.
