We are juggling our devices more than ever, and posting on them simultaneously! Cross-platform consumption is increasing rapidly as people use different devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops to consume content, according to the GlobalWebIndex.
Consider the Super Bowl. Mobile devices combined with social media sparked a flurry of activity during the big game. People were using the multiple screens simultaneously to post on Facebook, Twitter, and text their friends as they watched. Neilson estimates 111 million people watched the game while 98 million launched applications during the same time period.
The game:
- Streamed to smartphones and tablets
- Used mobile technology to make ads more enjoyable
- Connected people with #hashtags
To develop strategies that cross platforms in government:
- Think content types, not media
- Budget for content
How have you consumed content over the last month? Have you used different devices at the same time?

I agree with you Alex. It is crucial that government it understand the current trends and how the trends are defining the future of the industry.
