State Project Examples

NREL's comprehensive integrated deployment model has been applied in states such as Alaska and Hawaii to help meet clean energy goals.

Alaska

To help alleviate the highest energy prices in the nation, NREL provides strategic technical support to reduce diesel fuel use in Alaskan villages, partners with other federal agencies and research entities to conduct clean energy policy analysis, and monitors the performance of energy-efficient buildings while verifying unique technology solutions for use in cold climates.

Hawaii

NREL's on-site technical expertise, technology deployment, project assistance, and policy analysis helps Hawaii's state energy office develop renewable resources and reach their goal of 70% clean energy by 2030 through the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative—a partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy and the State of Hawaii.
