General Information

The Fresno kangaroo rat (Dipodomys nitratoides exilis) is one of three subspecies of San Joaquin kangaroo rats, distinguished by being smaller than the Tipton (Dipodomys nitratoides nitratoides) and the short-nosed kangaroo rat (Dipodomys nitratoides brevinasus), a species of concern. The Fresno subspecies averages around nine inches in length.
