Facts You Should Know About Central Contractor Registration (CCR)

Central Contractor Registration (CCR) is the official, free on-line registrant database for the U.S. Federal Government. CCR collects, validates, stores and disseminates data in support of agency acquisition and award missions.

Who should register in CCR?

• Current and potential vendors must be registered in CCR prior to an award or contract, basic agreement, basic ordering, or blanket purchase agreement [See FAR 4.11]
• Private non-profits, educational organizations, state and regional agencies that apply for assistance awards via grants.gov must now register with CCR
• A foreign company that performs work outside the US is required to register in the CCR system in order to be awarded a contract [See FAR 4.1102(a)(5)]
• Exceptions are reserved for classified contracts (see 2.101) or contracts to support unusual or compelling needs

What is required to register?

• To register in CCR, a firm must have a Data Universal Numbering Systems (DUNS) number, which is assigned by Dun & Bradstreet [See FAR 52.204-7].
• One time registration that must be updated annually.
• Provide basic information relevant to procurement and financial transactions

Who can access CCR?

• CCR registration may be shared with authorized federal government offices
• CCR is publicly accessible to anyone via the web
• Vendors may elect to “not display” CCR Registration

GSA Integrated Acquisition Environment(IAE) awarded a contract in February 2010 to consolidate 8 of the Federal Procurement Systems and the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA). The resulting new system will be called the System for Award Management (SAM). Capability will be made available to users via SAM in stages, starting with Entity Management (CCR/FedReg and ORCA) and the exclusions portion of Performance Information (EPLS) in winter 2011-2012.
