How to Help
Even if you are unable to donate blood, we still need you! Here are a few ways you can help.
It’s fun to give as a group! Schedule a blood drive for your office, neighborhood, Parent Teacher Association, church or any other group.
Many ASBP blood drives are conducted on federal property, and donors must have access to the drive locations. Depending on the size of the group and their location, the drive may be conducted at the donor center or at your site. Many people do not know the ASBP provides a direct connection to Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and military family members in need, so let them know! Spreading the word helps ensure all military community members have the blood they need anywhere, at any time.
Sometimes it can be hard to find time to donate. If you have friends and colleagues who are eligible to donate, help them find time. By offering to watch their children while they donate, giving them a ride, or helping with a task so they can donate, you help make a significant contribution.
Many donor centers have opportunities for volunteers to help with blood drives. Some typical responsibilities may include contacting donors to remind them of their appointments, keeping the refreshment area supplied, or escorting donors. Most often, it is the appreciation donors receive from volunteers that encourages them to donate again, making volunteers very important members of the ASBP.
