Romanenko Roman Yurievich
PERSONAL DATA: Born August 9, 1971, in Schelkovo, Moscow Region. Married to Romanenko (Danilovskaya) Yulia Leonidovna. They have two children.
EDUCATION: After graduation from Star City high school in 1986 Romanenko entered the Leningrad Suvorov military school from which he graduated in 1988. In 1988 entered the Chernigov Air Force Pilot School from which he graduated in 1992 as pilot-engineer.
EXPERIENCE: After graduation from the pilot school served as a laboratory engineer and copilot in the Air Force. He flew L-39 and Tu-134 aircraft. Romanenko has logged over 800 hours of flight time. He is a Class 3 Air Force pilot. He also has qualifications of a paraborne instructor and diving officer.
SPACEFLIGHT TRAINING: Selected as a test-cosmonaut candidate of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center Cosmonaut Office in December of 1997.
SPACEFLIGHT EXPERIENCE: Completed 1st spaceflight from May 27 to December 1, 2009 as the Soyuz TMA-15 commander and ISS flight engineer. Logged 187 days in space.
AWARDS: Hero of the Russian Federation (2010), Space Exploration medal, Air Force medals, 50 years of space exploration honorary pin; Belgian Ordre de la Couronne (Commandeur).
HOBBIES: Underwater hunting, tourism, yachting, downhill skiing, music.
