Autumn is my favorite season in New York. Maybe it’s all the time I’ve spent in school, but I associate fall with the energized optimism of new beginnings and fresh starts. The city seems to relax from the blazing heat of summer as parks, sidewalks and bike paths become less crowded. It’s also the perfect time of year to tackle some new projects – put away air conditioners and seal windows, start composting and protect water resources in honor of World Water Monitoring Day. October is also Children’s Health Month and we have plenty of tips on how to help protect your kids and improve your child’s school environment.

It’s also a great season to enjoy the city’s parks and botanical gardens. October brings events for everyone from the infamous Village Halloween Parade to the annual Pumpkin Festival in Central Park. Not too far from the city we also have apple orchards to visit and fall foliage to enjoy. Area campgrounds become less crowded and cooking over an open fire sounds more appealing. How are you looking forward to celebrating fall?

I am looking forward to the cooler air. My favorite time of the year is also fall. I like wearing long sleeve shirts and jeans. plus i live in Minnesota so we get to get away from the mosquitoes for a while. It is also a great time to host a bonfire or go for a cool jog.
