Recovery Act in the Region
The Northeast and Caribbean Region received over $480 million through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The regional project list included one new construction project, several high performance energy building full and partial modernization projects, high performance green building limited scope projects, and small projects in 24 GSA owned facilities.
Many of these projects will contribute greatly to the sustainability and energy efficiency of our federal facilities. Energy efficient buildings save taxpayer dollars. Some of the special features included in these projects are the addition of photovoltaic panels to roofs; chiller and boiler replacements to new, more efficient models; installation of advanced lighting and air-conditioning control systems; installation of advanced metering systems; recommissioning projects to improve mechanical systems and controls; new energy efficient lighting systems, and more.
