119th Wing

The 119th Wing in Fargo, North Dakota is composed of two squadrons. The 177th Airlift Squadron's missions include Operational Support Airlift, transportation of distinguished visitors, and a responsive aeromedical airlift system to move eligible patients.  The 178th Reconnaissance Squadron includes operations of the MQ-1 Predator. The MQ-1 Predator is a medium-altitude, long-endurance, remotely piloted aircraft.

<p>As you can imagine, the last person to handle an aircraft before it actually takes off bears an immense responsibility to make absolutely certain that the plane is mission ready. That person is the Aerospace Maintenance Specialist. In this job, you'll be accountable for ensuring the aircraft is in perfect working order. If alterations or repairs are needed, you'll assign specialists to fix the issues and work with them to ensure the plane's safety and readiness. Pre-flight, you'll give the plane one last inspection to make sure it's serviced with fuel, hydraulic fluid and liquid oxygen before giving it your final approval. <p>As a Mobility Pilot, you'll master all aspects of advanced aviation and use those skills to fly C-130 Hercules aircraft, transporting everything from cargo to passengers to destinations all over the world. In this role, you'll perform navigation, in-flight refueling, and cargo and passenger delivery. You'll plan and prepare for missions; review mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information; and brief your crew.  You'll ensure your aircraft is preflighted, inspected, loaded, equipped, and manned for mission. <p>Water and Fuel Systems Maintenance Specialists are key to maintaining the Air National Guard's high environmental standards. The skills you'll learn in this specialty will translate easily into a successful civilian career in plumbing or water treatment.  As a Water and Fuel Systems Maintenance Specialist, you will learn principles of operation and construction, features of backflow prevention devices, natural gas distribution systems, and fire suppression systems.  You'll also learn to operate and set up field water purification units and field water distribution systems, as well as wastewater collection and disposal systems.</p><p>Water & Fuel Systems Maintenance Specialists are specially trained in:</p><ul><li>Contingency/peacetime operations in hydraulic, electrical, mechanical theories, and principles that apply to all utility and liquid fuel systems</li><li>Characteristics, physiological effects, and hazards of liquid fuel products to include types, sizes, and uses of plumbing materials and components</li><li>Mathematics</li><li>Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications, military and commercial publications, and environmental regulations</li><li>Maintenance of water distribution, wastewater collection, and natural gas distribution systems and corrosion prevention. </li><li>Prime BEEF program its role in supporting world wide contingency operations</li><li>Must have normal color vision</li><li>Freedom from fear of confined spaces (Claustrophobia)</li><li>Freedom from fear of heights (Acrophobia)</li></ul> Water & Fuel Systems Maintenance

<p>As an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician, you'll need nerves of steel in order to safely handle live explosives on a daily basis in this demanding but satisfying job. In this career, you'll apply classified techniques and procedures to lessen or totally remove hazards created by the presence of unexploded ordnance. You'll learn to detect, identify, recover, and dispose of U.S. and foreign explosives and ordnance that are unsafe, including conventional military ordnance, criminalsand terrorists homemade items, and chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons. EOD teams deploy in support of special operations and low/medium intensity conflicts, analyze unknown munitions and explosives for exploitation by the intelligence agencies, and provide protection to the President, Vice President, and other dignitaries in support of the United States Secret Service. A career in EOD can be extremely dangerous, but you'll be trained and equipped to safely deal with the every situation.</p><p>Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialists are specially trained in:</p><ul><li>Composition and characteristics of United States and foreign conventional, chemical, biological, improvised, and nuclear ordnance</li><li>Basic electronics</li><li>Precautions, tools, and protective equipment required for response to release of hazardous substances as operations level first responders and level three technicians</li><li>Proper handling, use, rendering safe, and treatment of hazardous explosive wastes</li><li>Rendering safe munitions, removing and treating hazardous unexploded ordnance, or decontaminating activities</li><li>Must have normal color vision</li><li>No record of claustrophobia</li><li>No record of emotional instability</li><li>Normal depth perception</li><li>Must maintain Top Secret SSBI security clearance</li></ul> Explosive Ordnance Disposal
