104th Fighter Wing

The 104th Fighter Wing of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, located in Westfield, Massachusetts, is an operational flying unit assigned to the Air Combat Command. We proudly claim the honor of being one of the oldest flying units within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Tasked to provide operationally ready combat units, combat support units and qualified personnel for active duty, the 104th Fighter Wing supports Air Force wartime contingency requirements and performs a variety of peacetime missions required by the Air Force and compatible mobilization readiness. The 104th is also readily available to the Governor of Massachusetts to respond to natural or manmade disasters.

As an Education and Training Specialist, you'll play a part in every piece of the learning and training process, from creating course curricula, to instructing regular classes, to leading educational workshops. <p>In times of emergency, the Emergency Management Specialist is prepared for every possibility, and must respond instantly with a plan when disaster strikes. As an Emergency Management Specialist, you are responsible for your Air Guard base's ability to withstand and recover from attack during a war, and natural disasters during peacetime. You will write and implement the plans used by members of your Air Guard unit to react to military or terrorist attacks, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and any other catastrophe that may strike.</p><p>Emergency Management Specialists are specially trained in:</p><ul><li>Characteristics and effects of peacetime WMD and wartime conventional and CBRN weapons</li><li>Detection and identification of CBRN contamination</li><li>Threat analysis</li><li>Passive defense measures</li><li>Principles of contamination control</li><li>Related technical information, policies, procedures, techniques, and equipment</li><li>CE readiness and contingency planning, training, operations, equipment supply procedures, directives, and policies</li><li>Directing functions such as readiness programs, or evaluating, planning, and organizing readiness activities</li><li>Must have normal color vision</li><li>No record of claustrophobia</li><li>Must maintain Top Secret SSBI security clearance</li></ul> Emergency Management

<p>A multi-million dollar aircraft is worthless if it can't fly. When structural damage occurs on an Air National Guard jet, it's the job of the Aircraft Structural Maintenance Specialist to figure out the problem, fix it and get that plane back in the air, pronto. In this career, you'll become a master craftsman, learning a valuable skill set and using a variety of tools, such as welding and metalworking equipment, on every kind of metal, from steel to synthetic polymers. As the Aircraft Structural Maintenance Specialist, you are an integral part of the Air Guard team responsible for maintaining the high quality of the Air National Guard air fleet and ensuring the safety of the pilots and aircrew members that fly them.</p><p>Aircraft Structural Maintenance Specialists are specially trained in:</p><ul><li>Aircraft construction features</li><li>Identification and characteristics of aerospace materials</li><li>Repair of metal, tubing, cable, plastic, fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite structural components</li><li>Shop drawing and sheet metal layout techniques</li><li>Shop mathematics</li><li>Corrosion identification, removal, repair, and prevention</li><li>Cleaning of metals</li><li>Application of protective coatings, low observable materials, and markings</li><li>Proper use, mixing, and storage of acids, solvents, alcohol, caustics, primers, and paints</li><li>Proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste and materials</li></ul> Aircraft Structural Maintenance
