166th Airlift Wing

The 166th Airlift Wing, headquartered in New Castle, Delaware, operates eight permanently assigned, Lockheed C-130 H2 Hercules transport aircraft, providing the U.S. Air Force with tactical airlift and air and land drop of troops, cargo and passengers, and aeromedical evacuation of patients anywhere in the world. Additionally, the wing has a civil engineer function and a network warfare unit. Under command of the Governor of Delaware, the wing is prepared to support the State of Delaware with trained personnel and equipment for various humanitarian missions to protect life and property and to preserve peace, order and public safety.

Aerospace Medical Service Specialists are a medical "jack of all trades", performing a wide range of technical nursing duties, from drawing blood to assisting in delivering newborn babies. In this job, you'll be directly involved in the care and treatment of patients, including feeding, measuring and recording vital signs, administering medications, and prepping patients for surgery. <p>Water and Fuel Systems Maintenance Specialists are key to maintaining the Air National Guard's high environmental standards. The skills you'll learn in this specialty will translate easily into a successful civilian career in plumbing or water treatment.  As a Water and Fuel Systems Maintenance Specialist, you will learn principles of operation and construction, features of backflow prevention devices, natural gas distribution systems, and fire suppression systems. <p>As you can imagine, the last person to handle an aircraft before it actually takes off bears an immense responsibility to make absolutely certain that the plane is mission ready. That person is the Aerospace Maintenance Specialist. In this job, you'll be accountable for ensuring the aircraft is in perfect working order. If alterations or repairs are needed, you'll assign specialists to fix the issues and work with them to ensure the plane's safety and readiness. Pre-flight, you'll give the plane one last inspection to make sure it's serviced with fuel, hydraulic fluid and liquid oxygen before giving it your final approval.
