DUSHANBE, Tajikistan – On October 22nd, 2011, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton held a town hall meeting with Tajik women, youth, and civil society leaders. Among these leaders were more than 300 exchange alumni, including 40 Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program alumni. The FLEX Program is a merit based scholarship offered to high school students in Eurasian countries. The goal of the FLEX Program is to promote mutual understanding between the United States and Eurasian countries. The students live for one academic school year in the United States and attend high schools all over the country. Since 1992, more than 20,000 high school students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine have been selected to participate in FLEX. There are 650 Tajik FLEX alumni. The alumni who attended the town hall meeting were proud to contribute to the event, as FLEX alum Miskola Abdulloeva noted: “This event was unique and unforgettable - one of the most memorable events in the history of the Tajik FLEX Alumni Community.”
