Titan on top for green computing and collaboration between government and industry

The OLCF took home awards in green computing and industry collaboration from this year’s HPCwire “Readers’ Choice Awards.”

HPCwire, the leading publication for news from the high-performance computing (HPC) industry, announces “Readers’ Choice” and “Editors’ Choice” winners at the Supercomputing Conference each November.

This year, the OLCF received two awards.

The Readers’ Choice Award for best application of green computing in HPC went to Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s (ORNL’s) Titan supercomputer. Examples of the OLCF’s work in green computing include extensive climate research. The Readers’ Choice Award for best HPC collaboration between government and industry also went to Titan, which was a cooperative effort between ORNL, the Department of Energy, Cray Inc., AMD, and NVIDIA.

“The awards have come to represent the highest level of honor and recognition given to the thought leaders in the HPC community by their own during the most important supercomputer event of the year,” said Jeff Hyman, president of HPCwire publisher Tabor Communications.—by Leah Moore
