We look forward to open and honest discussion, but please do take a moment to review our Discussion Policy.

Feel free to spread the word to your fellow CERT and emergency response colleagues about this forum and use it to reach out to those you have not yet met - introduce yourselves, share how long you have been a member of CERT, what experiences you have with community preparedness and the types of projects you are working on.

My Name is Carl Buckley Jr. and i have been a memeber of CERT for about 3 to 4 months now and getting ready to have a new CERT class next weekend.I would like to know how you can start up a group of CERT in the Gallia County Local Area. And i would like to see all State CERT Members to come together and have training together so we can meet other members from other State Agencies.

CERT programs are typically sponsored, managed, affiliated or created in partnership with local emergency management, fire or police agencies. In fact, many of the trainers come from those agencies, too; therefore, I recommend you first talk with those local officials.

Each state has a CERT program manager/coordinator who can offer additional assistance or advice. This person’s contact info can be located here: https://www.citizencorps.gov/cc/CertIndex.do?submitByState.

Additionally, this web page on the National CERT website offers information about starting a program: https://www.citizencorps.gov/cert/start.shtm.

I wish you the best and thank you for your interest in CERT!

I'm wondering why FEMA doesn't provide a generic (TV & Radio) Public Service Announcement  along with other marketing materials (posters), that can be used to explain & promote CERT training. The biggest problem I've run into is the general public doesn't know what CERT is or does. They did a great job with the TEEN CERT PSA. Why not do one for the Adult program that can be used nation wide?

Should FEMA provide a generic TV Public Service Announcement that can be used to promote the adult CERT training?
