Tanya Brothen is a blogging enthusiast who began writing for the web on a whim. Now it’s her job. She recently received a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and works as a New Media Officer for the State Department. Tanya not only writes for By the People, but also acts as the blog’s organizer, keeping everyone on topic and on time. To demonstrate her understanding of democracy, she holds regular blog team meetings and usually listens to what the others have to say.
By day, Jane Chun, is a web editor and photographer for America.gov. By night, she’s a freelance photographer who also spits spoken word poetry in her spare time. Her other skills include cheering up crying babies and finding great deals when dining out.
Peggy B. Hu defied Asian-American stereotypes in college by studying comparative literature and international relations rather than math and science. She works for America.gov as a copy editor, occasional writer and unofficial interpreter between information technology staff and other people. She is also the volunteer webmaster for the Washington chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association, a piano player and the mother of a primary school student who thinks he should have an equal say in family decisions.
Sara is a mobile content editor for America.gov. She spent some time working in the film industry and has a Masters in Communication, Culture and Technology, with a focus on e-government and differences in communication between old and new media. In her free time, Sara enjoys politics and movies.
A long-time writer and editor, Jane Morse now focuses on women’s issues, democracy and human rights. Her career includes stints with the Army, Commerce and Agriculture Departments. She likes to sew as a hobby.
J. Scott Orr is Mobile Content Editor for America.gov. He is an award-winning journalist and long-time technophile who has written about technology, foreign affairs, government and politics in Washington, DC, for newspapers, magazines and Web sites.
Andrzej Zwaniecki has covered business, economic and related issues for America.gov and other U.S. public diplomacy projects. Earlier, he was a radio broadcaster, reporter and feature-story writer.
