Does your community have important bicycle and pedestrian project needs? The Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) may be able to provide funding. Applications for the 2016 Program are now being accepted through November 10, 2016. Similar to the 2014 Program, applications must be submitted via Sage. County and municipal governments among others are eligible to apply.

At its July 25, 2016 meeting, the SJTPO Policy Board adopted Transportation Matters – A Plan for South Jersey. This Plan is the culmination of over a year of work, numerous public meetings and events, and input from hundreds of regional stakeholders and citizens. This plan will shape South Jersey’s long-term transportation future, setting the vision, goals, and strategies that will guide the region’s transportation decision making for the next 24 years. On December 4, 2015, President Obama signed into law the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act, or “FAST Act.” This federal transportation bill directs much of the federal funding that goes into our transportation system.
The South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization engages in various local and regional planning projects throughout the counties of Atlantic, Cumberland, Cape May, and Salem.
Current Air Quality Conditions are posted several times throughout the day and include information on Ozone and PM2.5. PM2.5 refers to fine particulate matter, which is a by-product of fossil fuel combustion. PM2.5 can easily reach remote lung areas, and is linked to serious respiratory ailments such as asthma and may aggravate other medical conditions. Ground-level ozone is not emitted directly into the air, but is created by chemical reactions in the presence of sunlight. Because of this, high ozone levels occur most frequently on hot summer afternoons. SJTPO engages in a number of efforts to measure and improve air quality in our region.
