Additional Requirements

Small Businesses must have a CAGE Code and a DUNS Number and be registered in the System for Award Management (formerly DoD Central Contractor Registration) to be eligible for a contract award. The Links to all three of these sites are listed above in the "Additional Resources" pane.

What do we buy?

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District buys a variety of supplies, services, construction and engineering services.

Examples of these requirements:  Mainly horizontal construction, Fencing, Lighting, HVAC, Drainage, Roofing, Painting, Water processing System, Paving, Retrofits, Levees, Dams, Interior and Exterior Repair.

Engineering Services: Concept Studies, Master Planning, Engineering Studies/Assessments, Restoration, Data Collection and Analysis, all types of Surveying and Mapping, Engineering Design, Construction and Construction Phases Services.

Other Services: Boring Samples/Testing, Water Quality Sampling, Trash Collection, Grounds Maintenance, Janitorial, Remediation, Environmental Consultation, Oversee and Maintain Recreational Park.

Supplies and Equipment: Riprap, Generators, Turbines, HVAC Equipment, Kitchen Equipment, Electronic Gear, Petroleum Products, Repair Parts, Construction Equipment, Shelters, Herbicide, Lumber, and Cement.

The Small Business Program seeks Women Owned, 8(a), Historically Underutilized Business Zone Empowerment (HubZone) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned businesses, as well as Historical Black Colleges and Universities, and Minority Institutions that are interested in doing business with the federal government.

A Small Business Training Forum is planned 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Tennessee State University Avon Williams Campuslocated at 330 10th Avenue North in Nashville, Tenn. 

The theme for this year's event is "Woman Owned Small Businesses." Register for the event by Clicking Here.  

The Society of American Military Engineers Nashville and Fort Campbell Posts, Tennessee Small Business Development Center with participation by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District are hosting small business workshops, presentation of Corps programs and small business opportunities, Networking and Matchmaking information.

Monitor procurement advertisements daily

Nashville District uses formal solicitation procedures and publishes notices for major program actions. We utilize best value, invitation for bids (sealed bid process), and negotiated procedures. 

All Federal Agencies are required to use Federal Business Opportunities to provide public notice for solicitations estimated greater than $25,000. The Nashville District occasionally posts public notices on this website for any soliciations less than $25,000.

The Army Single Face to Industry (ASFI) site provides vendors with a single point of entry to search for, view and respond to Army solicitations. AFSI provides a seamless, paperless web environment tying vendors to Army buyers.

Stay Alert

Always respond to announcements for “Sources Sought” on the FedBizOpps website that match your firm’s capabilities. Contracting Officers use this “Sources Sought” process to confirm market research in determining whether or not to set aside a requirement for small businesses.

Make it a point to attend business networking opportunities, conferences, trade fairs, and other federally supported liaison meetings in your local area. The Corps of Engineers is normally represented at such meetings and events. These meeting venues provide an excellent opportunity to meet on a one-on-one basis with small business and procurement specialists and program managers who can assist small businesses with finding information about upcoming government contracts and requirements.

Seek Opportunities as a Subcontractor

Many of DoD’s requirements are beyond the scope of a single small business. We encourage businesses to investigate potential subcontracting opportunities with DoD Prime Contractors. Check out the U.S. Department of Defense Office of Small Business Programs and U.S. Small Business Administration websites.
