Command Sergeant Major Dan Job

Command Sergeant Major Daniel R. Job was born in Linton, North Dakota. In 1972, he graduated from Linton High School and enlisted in the United States Army. He completed basic combat training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and advanced individual training at Ft Knox, Kentucky and became an Armor Crewman. He was assigned to the 1st Armored Division with the 2nd
Battalion, 81st Armor Regiment. During his tour of duty, he served as a tank loader, driver, gunner and tank commander.

After discharge from the U.S. Army in 1975, Command Sergeant Major Job joined the North Dakota Army National Guard initialing serving with Company A, 141st Engineer Combat Battalion (CORPS)(WHEELED) in his hometown of Linton. Sergeant Major Job has served in numerous key positions in the North Dakota Army National Guard to include Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, and First Sergeant, Company D, 141st Engineer Combat Battalion (CORPS)(WHEELED); First Sergeant and Intelligence Sergeant, 164th Engineer Group; Operations Sergeant, Headquarters State Area Command (STARC); Command Sergeant Major, 141st Engineer Combat Battalion (CORPS)(WHEELED) and 164th Engineer Combat Battalion (MECHANIZED). From 2003 to 2004, he served as the Command Sergeant Major for the 142nd Engineer Combat Battalion (HEAVY) when the unit was deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He was assigned as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the North Dakota National Guard in 2004. In this position, he is the chief enlisted advisor to The Adjutant General, responsible for morale, welfare, discipline, performance, training, awards, recruiting, retention, equal opportunity, promotions, and assignments for all enlisted Soldiers and Airmen of the North Dakota National Guard.

Command Sergeant Major Job's military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 awards), Army Achievement Medal (5 awards), Army Good Conduct Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon (2 awards), Armed Forces Reserve Medal
(with ‘M' and Silver Hourglass), Noncommissioned Officer Development Ribbon (with Number 4), Army Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Achievement Ribbon (8 awards), North Dakota Army National Guard State Meritorious Service Medal, North Dakota Army National Guard State Achievement Ribbon, North Dakota Emergency Service Ribbon, North Dakota Army National Guard State Outstanding Unit Ribbon, North Dakota Army National Guard 5 Year Ribbon, North Dakota Army National Guard Basic Training Ribbon, North Dakota Army National Guard Service Ribbon (with Silver Hourglass).

His military education includes the Basic Leader Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course, First Sergeants Course and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.

Command Sergeant Major Job and his wife, the former Claudette Schulz, currently reside in Bismarck, North Dakota. They have two children and four grandchildren. His daughter, son and son-in-law have all served with the North Dakota National Guard to include service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In his civilian career, he works for Basin Electric Power Cooperative in Bismarck as a Building Superintendent responsible for all aspects of maintenance of the Headquarters Cooperative Complex.
