Weather Forecast

...Mainly Dry Throughout The State Today...Isolated Fast-Moving Showers Possible Along Entire East Coast Of Florida..Mostly Sunny Skies in the Panhandle, Partly Cloudy Skies in the Peninsula...High Risk of Rip Currents for Southeast Florida Beaches Today...Moderate Risk of Rip Currents For Northeast Florida Coast Beaches And Panhandle Beaches Today...

Updated 8:00 A.M. EDT Wednesday

Areas of patchy fog are possible along the I-75 Corridor north of Tampa, and for parts of the Panhandle. Dry and clear conditions will continue today throughout Florida as high pressure dominates. Isolated, fast-moving showers are possible along the east coast. There is around a 20% chance of showers along most of the eastern coastal areas.

Otherwise, expect mostly to partly cloudy skies. Highs today will be in the low to mid 80s statewide. Lows tonight will be in the low to mid 60s in North and Central Florida, and in the low to mid 70s across South Florida.

A low fire weather threat remains today across much of the Florida Panhandle. Wind speeds and relative humidities have dropped below the critical thresholds for active wildfires. Still relative humidities will be on the low side and there are plenty of high energy release components that could easily burn. Any fires that develop have the potential to spread quickly. Outdoor burning is still not recommended!

A high risk of rip currents is forecast for East Coast beaches from Palm Beach County south due to breezy onshore winds and increased wave heights forecast today. A moderate risk of rip currents is forecast from Nassau to Martin County beaches, and Walton to Franklin County beaches today. A low risk of rip currents is expected for all other beaches in Florida today. Beach goers are urged to check with local beach rescue for the latest surf conditions and to always swim within sight of a lifeguard.

A broad non-tropical area of low pressure located a few hundred miles east-northeast of the northern Lesser Antilles is producing widespread cloudiness and showers. Although this system is expected to strengthen into a non-tropical gale over the central Atlantic within the next day or so, it could acquire some subtropical characteristics late this week or this weekend while it moves northward or north-northeastward over the north-central Atlantic. The system has a 0% (none) chance of development over the next 48 hours, and a 20% (low) chance of development through the next five days. This system will not pose a threat to Florida or the United States. Additional information on this system can be found in High Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service.
