The Nashville District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers welcomes you to Cheatham Lake.  The lake provides a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities for millions of visitors each year.  Because of the temperate climate and relatively long recreation season, visitors have numerous activities from which to choose, including: fishing, hunting, camping, picnicking, boating, canoeing, hiking,  and others.

Cheatham Lake belongs to you, so keep it clean and attractive.  Enjoy your visit by staying safe on the water and in the recreation areas.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 7, 2012) — U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District Lt. Col. James A. DeLapp, district commander, promoted Army 1st Lt. Corey T. Wolff to the rank of captain today.

Cheatham Lock scheduled to reopen after major maintenance repairs
ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 15, 2012) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is scheduled to reopen Cheatham Lock 6 p.m., today following a one-month closure for major maintenance repairs to hydraulic and mechanical equipment damaged during the 2010 flood along with other routine maintenance.

Cheatham Lock closing for repairs Oct. 16 through Nov. 15
ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s Cheatham Lock will be closed to all river traffic from 6 a.m., Oct. 16, through 6 p.m., Nov. 15, 2012, to permit major maintenance repairs to hydraulic and mechanical equipment damaged during the 2010 flood along with other routine maintenance.

Commentary: Don't stop practicing water safety on Corps lakes
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 31, 2012) – As we enter the Labor Day weekend and the remaining few weeks of the Summer recreation season, I want to again emphasize the extreme importance of “Water Safety” to continue reducing fatalities on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District’s 10 lakes.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 23, 2012) – The lower Mississippi River would be four feet less mighty today if not for the water storage reservoirs along the Tennessee and Cumberland rivers and their tributaries that provide a stream of water management benefits.
