Brown Announces Nomination of 40 Ohio Students to U.S. Military Service Academies

WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) today announced his nomination of 40 Ohio students to U.S. Military Service Academies. Appointments to the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy, the Military Academy at West Point, and the Merchant Marine Academy all require congressional recommendations.

"These Ohioans represent some of our state's outstanding young men and women," Brown said. "I am honored to nominate these talented students, and I applaud their commitment to serve our country."

Brown nominates up to 10 students each year to each academy. The nominations are based on the recommendation of a Service Academy Selection Advisory Committee assembled by Brown. A nomination, however, does not guarantee acceptance into a service academy. The final decision and appointment rests with each academy's admissions board.
