Course Description

This refresher course is primarily designed for FAA personnel who have a responsibility for participation in or support of investigations of aircraft accidents and incidents, viz., operations and airworthiness inspectors, aircraft certification office engineers, manufacturing inspectors, and safety program managers.  It is also recommended for other Federal agency and industry safety professionals who need fresh ideas and currency in investigation and accident prevention. The course brings new systems and materials, and advanced technologies to the attention to journeyman-level investigators, managers, and engineers.  Advances in state-of-the-art design and construction of aircraft and rotorcraft such as composite materials, cockpit CRT and heads-up displays, digital avionics, and fire protection technology are included, together with new investigative techniques and procedures.  The latest accident investigator information and text materials will also be supplied to each student. Students from the FAA and other federal agencies, aviation industry, and foreign governments will attend this course together. Prerequisites:  The Basic Aircraft Accident Investigation Course (Course # 00035) or the equivalent in course work or investigative experience is required.
