The three day Heliport Evaluation course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the evaluation process and the skills necessary to complete an evaluation of a proposed or existing heliport. The instruction is offered by FAA Inspectors experienced in heliport evaluations and includes both classroom lecture and a number of “hands-on” practical exercises.  The course includes a detailed review of the evaluation criteria, worksheets and administrative tools available to the inspector, preparation of the evaluation report, and hands-on instruction in the operation of the tools used in the typical evaluation.  The training culminates in the evaluation of an existing local heliport.  (Students are encouraged to bring personally owned equipment like a GPS, range finder, and inclinometer)
