Possible Demonstration on Tuesday, September 25, 2012

The U.S. Embassy in Bishkek is expecting a peaceful demonstration in front of the Embassy on September 25, 2012 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Organizers have called for a peaceful protest. U.S. Embassy Bishkek advises U.S. citizens to maintain good situational awareness, avoid large crowds and any gathering that might have the potential to become violent.

All U.S. citizens in Kyrgyzstan are urged to enroll online at the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). Registering gives U.S. citizens access to updated information on travel and security within Kyrgyzstan and makes it easier for the embassy to contact citizens in case of an emergency. Enrollees wishing to receive such information must provide an e-mail address with their enrollment. All enrollees are urged to provide complete contact information and a departure date when signing up on-line.

The U.S. Embassy Bishkek's regular work week is Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00. Emergency American Citizens Services are available at all times.The U.S. Embassy in Kyrgyzstan is located at 171 Prospect Mira and can be reached by telephone at 0 312 55 12 41 Bishkek during regular hours and for after-hours emergencies. For after-hours emergency services please call 0 312 55 17 40 and ask for the duty officer.
