Purpose:  The Managing Federal Finances course addresses techniques for managing the financial operations that are basic to traffic safety programs or projects.

Course Description:  In this course, participants will learn to clarify and resolve questions concerning highway safety grant funding.  Training will focus on how performance planning affects financial management, and will outline how various financial requirements affect the overall Highway Safety Program.  Federal regulatory directives, principles and guidelines governing oversight and management of the highway Safety Program will also be addressed.  Participants will become familiar  with the Federal and state oversight responsibilities required to ensure program integrity.  The Grants Tracking System (GTS)  will also be introduced.  Special emphasis will be given to the Grants Management Manual throughout the course.
