6th Women on the Water Conference
Hosted by the State University of New York Maritime College
November 1st through the 3rd, the State University of New York Maritime College (SUNYMC), in partnership with the Maritime Administration (MARAD), will host the sixth annual Women on the Water (WOW) Conference in Throggs Neck, NY. The Conference will bring together cadets from the State Maritime Academies and midshipmen from the Federal Maritime Academy with professional women and men who are leaders in various sectors of the maritime industry. The event will be an excellent opportunity for the cadets/midshipmen to learn about the exciting careers that are open to them directly from successful women and men, as well as hear about current issues affecting the maritime industry. This is also an excellent opportunity for the midshipmen, cadets and professional women and men alike to meet and network with others in the maritime industry. U.S. Maritime Administration
The Maritime Administration promotes the development and maintenance of an adequate, well-balanced United States merchant marine, sufficient to carry the Nation's domestic waterborne commerce and a substantial portion of its waterborne foreign commerce, and capable of service as a naval and military auxiliary in time of war or national emergency. The Maritime Administration also seeks to ensure that the United States maintains adequate shipbuilding and repair services, efficient ports, effective intermodal water and land transportation systems, and reserve shipping capacity for use in time of national emergency.
