This report details a study on the criminality of individuals arrested for first time DWI offenses. The study identifies common prior offenses among first time DWI offenders, and strategies used to address the identified offenses to determine if there are potential opportunities to expand those efforts to prevent impaired driving.
IMPLICATIONS FOR HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY: Those in the criminal justice field, research, advocacy or community groups, and State and local government may find this report useful in integrating effective programs into existing interventions used to address other crimes.
