Resource Mapping and Spatial Analysis

The RMSAT team works on a variety of projects, specializing in the creation of geospatial data sets (e.g., land cover) for the National Park Service, Long Term Resource Monitoring Program, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The team's long term goals are:

  • Provide support to UMESC and its federal and state partners, through the use of remote sensing and geospatial technology to collect, create, and analyze geospatial data.
  • Keep current on computer and GIS hardware and software to most provide the most accurate data in most efficient manner.

The team's short term goals are:

  • Implementation of a completely digital vegetation mapping program using digital aerial photography, 3D stereo monitors and on-screen digitizing.
  • Developing advanced elevation products for use in resource management.
