In early 2011, CH2M HILL revegetated 166 acres across 12 outer zone waste sites, planting over 1,100 pounds of seeds and about 280,000 pounds of mulch.

With the mission on the Hanford Site now shifted toward cleanup, CH2M HILL is focusing on cleaning up waste sites and treating contaminated groundwater to ensure a healthy future for the Columbia River. To accomplish this goal, CH2M HILL has drilling, remediation and groundwater treatment efforts under way through Hanford’s 100K Area and Central Plateau, which includes a total of 11 groundwater operable units.

CH2M HILL’s groundwater cleanup strategy focuses on cleanup along the Columbia River, which includes construction, expansion and operation of pump-and-treat facilities in the 100 and 200 Areas to treat contaminated groundwater and support the overall mission of protecting the river.
