I am working to make sure that our Homeland Security agencies have the resources they need to keep Americans safe, to mitigate the risks of disasters, and to ensure that recovery efforts are geared toward getting individuals, families, and communities back on their feet. Our nation faces many risks, both man-made and from Mother Nature. In Wyoming, we have experienced floods, fires, tornadoes, and other natural disasters. It is critical that the Department of Homeland Security and agencies like the Federal Emergency Management Agency play an effective role in working with local emergency coordinators to start recovery and rebuilding after disasters happen. It is also important that our firefighters and local emergency responders at the community and county level have the resources they need to respond to disasters.
