Government Affairs

It is a fact that there are fewer senators with my same conservative values.  However, I continue to champion those important values as well as limited government intervention in the everyday lives of American citizens.  I will also continue to uphold my oath of office to defend and protect our United States Constitution.  I believe that Congress needs to get back to the way our founding fathers set up our government and I will support legislative measures that do so.

I am an original cosponsor of The Enumerated Powers bill, which helps protect states’ rights.  I also sponsored the Single Issue Legislation bill which will help bring the United States Senate back to focusing on one policy issue per legislative bill at a time like the Wyoming State Legislature has always done.  One thing that I learned as a mayor and member of the Wyoming State Legislature is that unfunded mandates can wreak havoc on state and local governments’ bottom lines.  For that reason, I am supporting a bill that will allow state and local governments know ahead of time about any unfunded mandates made by proposed federal legislation or agency actions.  I have also voted against Congressional pay raises and will continue to do so.
